Our Story

After struggling with Alopecia (hair loss), Zamantimande Kunene, the CEO and Founder started to look into ingredients that she hoped could provide a solution.

That research helped her make the decision to launch her brand, Afrotame hair care in 2018 with only two products (Whipped Mango Butter and Strengthening Oil). It all started in her kitchen and today the brand offers 15 products for washing, conditioning, and styling.

The star ingredient of the range is Hempseed oil. Hempseed oil is packed with lipids, which add moisture and shine to your hair. The oil helps to strengthen fragile strands, give your hair body, and may even make your hair thicker.

It can also help promote new hair growth and prevent hair loss from taking place. Our primary concern is to repair and regenerate the hair growth cycle that has been damaged by the harsh chemical relaxers and styling techniques that have been used before.

Afrotame caters to all hair types from wavy, curly and coily. The brand sources natural and organic ingredients for its products that cleanse, condition, and strengthen coils. The brand’s fan-favorite Hydrating Mask treatment, softens and restores dry hair by combining hydrating powers of Mango Butter, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, and Hemp oil. Afrotame also has a kiddies range which is gently formulated specifically for kids’ scalps.
